How the ten brands we stock actually compare on warranty, parts and reliability — and what 'brands to avoid' lists get wrong.
We fit and stock ten brands. Our ranking criteria are boring but honest: warranty length and its conditions, parts availability in five years, and how the manufacturer behaves when something goes wrong.
Most avoid-lists punish budget brands for budget warranties. That is backwards: a cheap boiler with an honest 2-year warranty, fitted well and serviced, beats a premium boiler fitted badly. Judge the specific model's warranty terms and the installer's work — not the logo.
Pick the longest warranty your budget reaches, from a brand with UK parts support, and spend the saving on a proper installation with a flush and filter. Our shop cards show the warranty next to the price for exactly this reason.
Worcester Bosch and Vaillant have the strongest long-term reputations, but Ideal's 10–12 year warranties on the Logic Max and Vogue Max make them the value pick. The model and installation quality matter more than the badge.
Not automatically. Check the specific model's warranty length and conditions — that tells you what the manufacturer really thinks of it.
